Annapurna: Ghorepani Village Trek: 10 Days

Ghorepani Ghandruk Village Trek lies in the Annapurna region and is one of the shortest and most popular trekking routes. The trail takes you through gorgeous valleys and has splendid varieties of natural beauty and unique experiences with the magnificent views of Annapurna Region including majestic Himalayan peaks such as Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Tukuche peak, Dhampus peak, Machhapuchhre, (6993m), Annapurna II, III, IV, Lamjung Himal, Dhaulagiri I (8167m) and among others.

The trail takes you through the foothill of the Annapurna massif. Ghorepani Ghandruk Village Trek is one of the most beautiful treks that combine easy walking with majestic scenery and a mix of cultures unmatched by any other treks in Nepal. The trail starts from the lowland villages and into the Annapurna Himal. Poon Hill is a viewpoint to see the Annapurna Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail), Mt. Dhaulagiri to the north and the transcendental valley to the south.

The region is dominated by the Gurung and Magars – ethnic groups of Nepal. While descending on the way back to Pokhara, we pass through the paved courtyards of Ghandruk village – a popular traditional village of Gurung where you can experience their age-old traditions and culture and interact with the local people. The trek is full of beautiful sceneries with lots of remarkable, breath-taking moments.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,300m /4,264ft).

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, you will be welcomed by a representative from Travel Society Nepal. After sorting out your custom formalities (Visa, etc) you will be then transferred to the hotel. The representative will help you check into your designated hotel and give you some time to freshen up. After this, we will attend an orientation about your trek led by our Trekking leader over a typical Nepali welcome dinner that will include a cultural dance performed by the local women. You then return to your hotel for your first overnight stay at the hotel (D)

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation (1,300m /4,264ft).

Kathmandu is the cultural heart of Nepal and has been a famous destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its borders to visitors. The city displays an interesting combination of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influences in the valley. Patan and Bhaktapur, the two important neighboring cities bear much cultural and religious significance to Nepal’s landscape. There will be a full-day guided tour to the historic sights such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddha Nath). In the evening, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we meet our trek leader and other stuff for your adventure trip. Stay overnight at hotel. (B)

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara: 5-6 hours drive

At 6:30 am, you will travel to Pokhara by tourist bus along the Trishuli and Marshyadgdi River and through the beautiful countryside of Nepal that offers wonderful mountain sceneries. When you arrive, you will check into your hotel and receive a welcome drink. After settling in, you can go boating on Fewa Lake, visit Tal Barahi Temple and explore the sights of Pokhara including the caves, temples, and lakes. Stay overnight at hotel (B)

Day 04: From Nayapul to Tikhe Dhunga – 1, 577m (5-6 hours)

After breakfast, we will drive to Nayapul and start the trek to Birethanti along the Modi River. We walk to the northern side of Bhurungdi Khola, as we climb through a bamboo forest and pass a big waterfall and swimming hole. We continue to follow the trail and reach Ramghai where we will have lunch. After lunch, the trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley, reaching Tikhe Dhunga. We stay overnight at guesthouse (B, L, D)

Day 05: From Tikhe Dhunga to Ghorepani – 2,800m (5-6 hours)

From Tikhe Dhunga, we head to Burungdi Khola by crossing a suspension bridge and ascending towards Ghorepani via a steep trail to Ulleri village (2,080m) with amazing landscape and Himalayan scenery. The trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. We continue to cross two sparkling streams before making a short climb to Nangethanti where we stop for lunch. Finally, we reach Ghorepani, which means “horse-water” in Nepali. Ghorepani is a fascinating place with small shops and stalls that sell local products and crafts. We stay overnight at guesthouse (B, L, D)

Day 06: Hike up to Poon Hill – 3,200m; Trek to Tadapani – 2,710m (5-6 hours trek)

An early morning we hike to the famous sunrise viewpoint – Poon Hill to catch the spectacular sunrise view over the whole Annapurna region. Then, we return back to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue our trek to Tadapani through the rhododendron forest. We stay overnight at guesthouse (B, L, D)

Day 07: From Tadapani to Ghandrung – 1,940m (5-6 hours)

After breakfast, we descend to Ghandrung village. It is a large Gurung village located above Modi Khola (river) and offers excellent views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna (7455m) Annapurna III (7555m) and Machapuchre. The trail carries on through the forest and goes gently down towards Ghandrung. In the evening, you have the option to explore the Gurung museum to know more about their traditional clothes and equipment. We stay overnight at guesthouse (B, L, D)

Day 08: From Ghandruk to Pokhara via Nayapul (5-6 hours)

After breakfast, we leave Ghandruk and head to Sauli-Bazar and walk along the Modi Khola (river) before reaching Birethanti for lunch. After lunch, we trek 25 min for Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara.

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner

This is an early morning drive back to Kathmandu. After having breakfast, we head back to Kathmandu. The rest of your time here is free for shopping and sightseeing. In the evening; you will be invited to a well known Nepali kitchen for a delicious farewell dinner of authentic Nepalese cuisine. Stay overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu (B, D)

Day 10: Transfer to Airport/Bus Stop for your Onward Travel

Our driver will escort you to the airport or bus stop for your onward travel. We will send you on your way with good luck and gratitude that you chose us for your adventure of a lifetime. (B)
